How do I get rid of these?

When I launched steam, all these folders popped up on the desktop. Do I need them, or can I just delete these?

I guess you chose the desktop for the install folder for Steam. Uninstall it, then reinstall it to the default place (usually under YOURDRIVE/Program Files (x86)/Steam)

They should be in their own folder within Program Files (x86)

Just hide the icons.

 

Can't see them = don't exist.
