the new update brick my audio

In the recent automatic window driver update, there is a driver 'Realtek Semiconductor Corp.- MEDIA - 6.0.1.8397' which bricked the speaker on my laptop (Dell G5). I confirmed it by installing it on another laptop, ASUS XZ553VD, and the same thing happens. If you run into the same problem, I suggest uninstalling the driver through 'device manager':

- Left click start menu => device manager

- Go to 'sound, video and game controllers

- Left click 'Realtek(R) Audio' => uninstall device

- Tick the 'delete the driver software for this device' => uninstall

- Reboot

The driver should reinstall itself automatically on Reboot, if not, you can 'scan for hardware change' in 'device manager' and install the driver manually.

I hope this help.
