Side question: what are the technologies of Nvidia and AMD? (aside from physx and cuda for nvidia)

Both graphic card support OpenGL and DirectX

AMD's technology is OpenCL. I hear Adobe will be supporting it soon.

OpenGL is and API not opened by AMD or Nvidia. AMD doesn't have anything like PhysX or Cuda. They do have good preformance, though.

Isn't Eyefinity pretty much Nvidia Surround? But it is better that Nvidia from what I have heard.

AMD's technologies are; Eyefinity, Crossfire, HD3D, App Acceleration and such.

Nvidia's technologies are; PhysX, CUDA, SLi, Optimus, 3D Vision and couple more.

I wonder if AMD will come out with an advanced physics simulator to compete with PhysX.

AMD now has TressFX (the fancy hair simulator used in the new Tomb Raider) and Nvidia has upped the ante with a fluid engine that uses PhysX.

AMD's FirePro cards are also capable of Framelock and Genlock synchronization (with the requirement of an s400 module).

Do you know if TressFX is only used on hair? Or can it be expanded to simulating particles, cloth, etc.?
