Should I wait for RTX cards?

TheDankKoosh

I have a build idea since my sweepstakes 8086k just arrived and I wanted some insight on it. I know RTX cards should be arriving in the next couple months and with that I figure that a 2060 will perform similar to a 980 ti, I currently have a x3440 and 280x to hold me over until such a time. Any thoughts are appreciated.

The rumour is they launch in 3 days so yes.

Don't get that PSU - it's pretty shit. Get a nice gold unit which is lower wattage that isn't the EVGA G3.

If I'm going to be using a RTX 2060 I don't figure I'll need anything more than a CXM 550, but just for reference the CXM 550 has 2 8-pin pcie connectors, correct? If not then I'll grab the 550 G2. Just in case I decide to grab a higher power card.

This combination is probably a bad idea if you're considering overclocking.
1) A power hungry CPU

2) a liquid cooler that usually gives worse airflow (compared to most air cooled setups) over the VRMs of the...

3) Motherboard with one tiny VRM heatsink. Not sure how bad it _actually_ is, but it looks bad.

It should be fine. Even my CX450M has 2 8pins.

I figure that this setup will be fine for 5ghz as long as I keep positive airflow in the case, and since the heatsink has actual fins I figure it'll be alright. Also I could probably do 5ghz on 1.25-1.275 volts so the vrm shouldn't be stressed out much, keep in mind the top vrms are for igpu and imc, so they don't need the heatsink (since I won't be using igpu)
