I would like to upgrade my PC. I use it for gaming and light video editing

I built it about 4 years ago, here's whats in it;

AMD FX 6300

8GB DDR3 at a speed of 800MHz

Some Mother Board

GTX 970 Asus STRIX

CX 430 PSU

So this what I wanted to upgrade to;

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nVpmtJ

My budget can't do much more than $400, maybe $450.

Should I get the 1700? 2600?

Is the Mother Board I selected good?

Should I get different memory? Faster? Slower?\

   Thanks for your time!

!!!POST NOTE!!!

Thank you to everyone who helped!

I will be going with this; https://pcpartpicker.com/user/PieMine/saved/wfDcYJ

The mother board is good for the price, thanks for dave_k,

I will go with the Ryzen 2600, thanks to MedievalMatt & dave_k,

and I will get two sticks of RAM at 2800MHz, thanks for Quadriplegic,

Thank you to everyone else who commented and helped with finding the right build!

What you linked is a solid starting point.  AMD has pledges support for the socket for at least another gen of ryzen.  so there is that..  I dont see any issues with the upgrade.

ASRock is worse, doesn't have BIOS flashback

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

the board is way better overall. you don't need BIOS flashback and that isn't worth 20$

I will buy more RAM later. Because it is only one stick, I can buy a second one once I get more money.

Just buy a kit. Dual channel memory runs faster than single stick, and there's no guarantee that the second stick will work properly
