Hello everyone!

I just finished my first computer build and to my surprise I have assembled the parts correctly, but in my noob-ish, naive mind, I didn't realise this was only half the battle. However, although I have managed to resolve other numerous and various issues with my build, my most significant problem is with my graphics card.

When doing a graphics intensive task such as loading up a game or an 8k video, my card seems to go from practically zero usage to 100% usage in a second or two, the screen goes black for a few moments with the program crashed when the screen returns.

Thanks in advanced for anyone who helps, or even taking the time to read this.

Some specs if needed:

Ryzen 2700x

1080ti

x370 mb

16gb 3000mhz ram

What exactly were you loading when that happened? Your HDD is also maxing out too btw.

Edit

And your RAM is locked at 8GB usage. That's very odd.

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

The 100% usage is also something I've been experiencing for a while now, even with an SSD my old laptop with a 960m. I even did a clean install of Geforce drivers and wiped every program from safe mode, but still, the problem persists. I will look into the RAM being locked though, good spot.

Edit:

It happens when loading modern games such as Star Citizen or Battlefield but also 8k videos such as this:

Are both powerconnectors connected to the card firmly?

What is your psu?

Just checked, power connections are good, psu is 650 watt Corsair Vengeance 80 Plus Silver. Maybe I should change my connectors all together?

100% gpu usage is fine dont worry about that , disk usage is not, but I think that if your pc dont shut down only black screen, for me Im 99% sure that is driver issue. (cause that black screen is a gpu driver crashing...) so maybe its program-driver related not hardware.

3000 mhz ram? some overclock to achieve that?, ram can be inestable at that speeds.

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

Okay, so I'll try downloading an old driver and update you. If this works than old really will be new!

Did you do clean install of Windows or did you reuse some old drive with existing install?

That could be it. Upgrades aren't the smoothes possible.
