Looking to buy a usb dvd burner

I'm one of the few that still uses a dvd burner/rom,I'm looking to build a new pc but on the fence on cases.Should i get a case with a ODD and run a sata drive.Or get a better looking case and use a usb drive?If i got usb what brands or types should i be looking at.Should i get something usb 3.0 and pay the extra for it?

I already have a internal drive i can steal from my old pc that im still using.I'm wondering if the usb drives are worth using or crappy ?
