Hard Drive "Burn In"

I will be getting a new 1 tb hard drive soon and I am wondering how to go about testing the drive to see if it will fail prematurely, so I know not to put any data on it.

Are there any programs and/or methods to test a hard drive?

How do you go about testing a new hard drive?

Thanks

I wouldn't mate, you test it that way and it'll probably fail prematurely anyway

I've never heard of 'burning a hard drive in' before.

If you backup, that shouldn't be of concern. Just install the harddrive and use it as normal.

There's almost no way to detect how long a drive will last if it's fresh out of the box. It generally just happens. Though usually a degradation of write/read speeds over time can be an indication.
