MacBook Pro & eGPU vs Desktop & Ultrabook

Hello,

May I have your advice?

So, I am willing to upgrade my old 2008 Budget Laptop to something newer and more powerful. I will use it for Schoolwork, potentially taking it into class, but also video editing and medium gaming, if possible at 60 FPS at Medium settings.

Here are the possibilities I have narrowed it down to:

Building a PC myself, looking a bit like this: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/2pxFbX and

1.1 Getting a Windows Ultrabook (suggestions welcome, 1000€ Max)

1.2 Getting a MacBook or MacBook Air

2. Buying the new Quad-core 13 inch MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM and adding an eGPU with something like a RX580 (either the BMD eGPU (RX 580 8GB) or the Razer Core V2 or X (1070 if supported, else RX 580 8GB)

Please: the Parts for the PC are to 95% fix, so unless there is something dramatic, there is no advice needed. Yes, I know the h80i v2 is overkill, but I love its aesthetics.

Thank you very much for your help!

I would suggest getting an MSI GS65 instead. It's a fairly thin and portable powerhouse laptop. Even the base model GTX 1060 would stomp any eGPU option for gaming and productivity work. The i7-8750H is also a big plus for video editing
