Hello,

I know the basis of what I want, AF, rad support, quiet 120/140mm. I'm wondering what fan brands are worth looking into and which models, for example Noctua has IPCC then other lines for example.

Regards.

EDIT* Is it worth getting 3pin fan connectors anymore?

I am a bit of a fan boy (punny right?) for Noctua, but these are awesome fans.  They work as either a radiator or case fan and are VERY quiet.  Only issue is they are not available in black or 140mm yet.

I edited my post as I forgot to ask about 3 pin connectors.

The thing with Noctua is the brown blades are kinda off putting lol.

I need help determining which Noctua fans are best suited for. As their website states some fans are suited for specific applications, not in those words.

It depends on pricing and what kind of control you have access to?

What are your specs and where are you planning to use the fans?

Where are you shopping / located? Budget?

Get 3 pin fans if you MB has 3 pin headers.  Get 4 pin fans if your MB has 4 pin headers.  Simple as that.

A lot of them come in black also.

Go here: Https://noctua.at/en/products/fan

Pay attention to these 2 numbers m³/h and mm H2O.  The first is air flow and the second is static pressure. Basically if you are putting the fan on a radiator or heatsink then get one with higher static pressure. If you are using it for case intake or exhaust get one with high airflow.

@geo3

Is it possible to setup the 4 pin fan controller to the 4 pin cpu header and control my 3 pin fans from the controller? I was told that will work.

It depends on the fan controller.

This is the fan hub I want to get https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999309

The motherboard is from the sandy bridge socket, it's Acer, hard to read the model name as it's kinda faded.

The fan hub is not a controller. It splits a pwm signal which can be used to control 4pin pwm fans. It's a 12v signal which results in 100% rpm for 3pin fans.

If you want to control 3 and 4pin fans from the same header, they need to be controlled using variable voltage and not pwm.

Sorry I meant fan hub not controller. Yes but in my bios couldn't I control the 4 pin from the fan hub to cpu header then control that fan speed and all else will follow?

Becauseif not then what's the point of the fan hub?
