should i do new thermal paste on my laptop?

Hi
i have a laptop, acer travelmate 5744 and i owned it like more than 6 years, this paste month it started to shutdown randomly probably cause of heat
i run some programs to see cpu's temperature and it's:

core #0 : min 72C, max 86C

core #1 : min 64C, max 85C
so would replacing its thermal paste make it cool down?

I would clean the fan and heatsink, and check to verify that the fan is still operational. If it isn't, that could be your problem. However, a repaste isn't unwarranted.

Yeah, you can check if your heatsink is clogged up with dust. if not I would replace the Thermal paste

Hi!

Just did that operation to my oldish laptop (T420) with NH-H1, but now I'm thinking to renew the paste in my newer L460 Thinkpad with liquid metal.

Do you know if it's safe to use Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut in weather which gets -20°C at minimum?

I'm just too nervous of it freezing and makeing the CPU die die. (Whoa! Bad pun)
