90% i7 8700k CPU usage?

So as you can see in the picture, one of my CPU threads for my i7 8700k is above 90% CPU usage at the Left 4 Dead start screen... is this msi afterburner just telling me the wrong number or is there actually something going on here? I have a gtx 1070, brand new pc build... I went into task manager and my CPU usage is hovering around 9-15%. Please help

I don't see anything wrong with that.

You WANT the CPU usage to be high -- which means your CPU is actually putting in work, pumping out all the frames.

Ideally, you want both GPU and GPU to be 90%+ usage.

 

Seeing how only ONE core is pegged at 92%, L4D does not have very good multi-core support.

It's a 2008 game, so makes sense...
