Best cooler for my i7 8700k?

Hey what's up!  I have a couple of choices for the cooler of my i7 8700k. I plan to overclock it, not too much though, I suppose 4.7-4.8 Ghz.

Choices I have are:

Corsair h110i

EVGA CLC 280

If you know any other coolers that are in this price range please let me know. This is the part I have been most struggling about, and I need to make a final decision >.<

How about a high end air cooler for a much lower price?

Hmm, I had a thought about legendary noctua NH-D15, but the clearance and the aesthetics is something that bother me a bit. I have NZXT s340 Elite case. How well does noctua perform compared to corsair/EVGA, considering they pretty much have the same pump(evga/corsair)

NH-D15,

The NH-D15 is by all means a much superior product than the greatest majority of AiO.

AiO water coolers are really only for the looks, you'll need a high end 280mm one to match the potential of the NH-D15, while AiO tends to break much easily, faulty pumps, accidental leakage actually faulty RGB (yes it happens often too on the non fan areas) and many other issues makes AiO a not practical product which its appeal being mostly only aesthetical.

I'd also suggest going air if it's a possibility, even a Corsair h110i which is among the best yes is not entirely safe bet.

Hmm.. Will NH-D15 or NH-D15 actually fit in s340 elite?

I think you meant NH D14 or NH D15...

Your case has 161mm of height clearance for the CPU cooler, the NH D14 is 160mm tall so it'll fit but the NH D15 is 165mm tall so it won't fit.

I have the EVGA CLC280 on my 8700K at 5GHz. Works like a charm. Looks awesome and it keeps it super nice and cool. I did swap out the fans it comes with though, they are on the louder side.

*cough* nzxt *cough*

Corsair AIOs are fine but only if your case has good front airflow otherwise the cores will skyrocket to 90C, OP's case don't meet this requirement and mounting it on top will be even a worse idea because the fans will suck all of the hot air from GPU, VRMs etc

I vote for the Noctua D14 too, fans might not be the best looking but perform great, that cooler is a beast

ASUS X470-PRO • R7 1700 4GHz • Corsair H110i GT P/P • 2x MSI RX 480 8G • Corsair DP 2x8 @3466 • EVGA 750 G2 • Corsair 730T • Crucial MX500 250GB • WD 4TB
