Gonna need some basis to your question(such as the use case) otherwise this'll just get locked as its against community standards for these kind of threads, they never end well.

@BlueChinchillaEatingDorito You do know that Ryzen can be hacintoshed as well, right? SnazzyLabs did a whole video on it a while ago..

And so could the Phenom II X6 apparently and well... let's not talk about that.

This is not about ha..sh this about performance

In gereral: Get the Ryzen becasue there are manny more benefits to it compared to Core

Pros:

Intel: Littel bit faster in gaming

Ryzen: More cores, mcuh more multicore power, better upgrade path, cheaper, decent (when not OCing) cooler in the box for free

Depends solely on your budget. Atm Intel has no rival when it comes to performance. Though if you need a cpu TODAY and can't afford nothing else than a Ryzen go for it.

I guess you can see my point that if the situation is not that extreme.... I would sve some cash for an Intel one. :) Is a personal view but I think that would be the smart path.

@BlueChinchillaEatingDorito It's not as hard as you'd expect - check out the video when you get the chance. Also, I'm suggesting Ryzen/Threadripper for price-to-performance. Unless the OP really needs the fastest CPU available and has a larger budget...

I actually watched that video when it came out. Even if it's the best value out there right now, I still have reservations for AMD in terms of rock solid reliability. My Phenom II hasn't exactly been the healthiest and with Ryzen, I don't feel that I can fully put my faith into it. Especially since I'm the type of person who often bolts on upgrades throughout the life of the system (terrible, I know right?).

For example, if I'm currently running 16GB of RAM and get to a point where I need more, I feel more comfortable just throwing more one more stick in an Intel system without things going to shit. With Ryzen, from witnessing the problems many members have had, you really need to meticulously plan your setup out or else things will go wrong.

While these issues may exist, I am sure that the stability of the platform will improve quite soon, seeing that Ryzen 3 has just dropped. You were referring to stuff like this, right:

We'll see. Like I've said about rumors of Apple possibly switching to AMD, AMD has to keep building up their reputation to fully win back hearts. Having the best product for one generation then completely falling off the face of the earth for the next 5 years is not the way to go. Hopefully they are truly going in the right direction unlike... *AHEM* Bulldozer ...was rather mediocre on day one, then a train wreck for the next few years.

Just a quick note for everyone - we usually prohibit AMD vs. Intel threads because they tend to descend into anarchy. We're going to keep this one open for now in the hopes things stay civil, but please help us to keep it that way. We all have our own opinions and feelings, please respect those of other users.

Keep it friendly.
