PSU help.

So im helping my friend make a gaming PC, But when we went to test the PSU it didn't boot. We simply plugged it in to the wall and flipped the switch at the back and nothing ocured.

Please help.

Did you connect everything to the power supply?

Did you press the power button? Did you connect the front power connector?

We did once but nothing occurred so we unplugged it all and tried.

To test the PSU, short the PSU on pin with ground.

it's an atx power supply which is soft switching , finish building the computer first before plugging it in (never thought in my life i would type that)

Seeing as they know nothing about it, I fear the possibility of them electrocuting themselves

Only the +5VSB will be live and if they short that to ground or another rail, the SCP (assuming it's not a complete garbage PSU and it actually has SCP) will trip the PSU off.

The highest voltage rail in a working PSU is 12V. With the body's 100kOhm resistance, it's not very deadly. I'm pretty sure. That'll be ~0,012mA?
