Two Thunderbolt 3 ports

Xeliath

Hi, I am building a workstation for a friend, and he needs two TB3 ports, and I can't find a card that looks like it can support 2 TB3 ports. He already has six TB3 devices, and needs to add another few. He cannot bring the TB3 card he has, as he only has one PCIe slot available.

Another thing is that the card cannot be more than $100, unless it is like, $110.

I don't know if this is the right forum thread to put it under, but if it is not, please send me to the right one.

Thank you

He has six thunderbolt 3 devices or 6 USB C devices? Trying to imagine what they could be...

None of them have daisy chain?

  • 5 weeks later...

It doesn't matter what they are, but he needs two separate thunderbolt 3 ports.

He needs them because between his daisy chained devices, a singular TB3 is not fast enough (I think?)

Also, why is there no 16x PCIe to 4x TB3 card? that's the same speed I think, as 1x TB3 is the same speed as PCIe 3.0 4x?
