Alright, so I got this laptop HDD to check it out, owner said that laptop was used heavily in gaming until it got destroyed by viruses. I took a look at it and the first thing I noticed was that the hard drive was on 100% all the time which made computer unusable. The next day hard drive failed compleately and I couldn't even boot on Win. Now its attached to my computer to take a look, I have some programs (CrystalDiskInfo, CrystalDiskMark, Hard Disk Sentinel and some other). Some of them recognize the HDD some don't, my question is what can I do to understand whats wrong with it and to know if its totaled or not.

HDSentinel is generally the most accurate of these utilities. What's wrong is that the disk has pretty much reallocated a bunch of sectors because bad sectors ar becoming more and more of an issue and it can't be trusted anymore. Copy important data off and destroy the disk with a hammer before throwing it out.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro
