If an Unlocked GPU can hit a max clock speed, will overclocking to that clock speed be stable?

iHomer

SO I have a Gigabyte  1050Ti OC [GV-N105TOC-4GD].

The current profile shows that it is clocked to 1430Mhzzz

But during gameplay it can hit 1800Mhzzz

Would it be safe to overclock to that extend and have it running on ~1800Mhzzz constantly?

Also I'm using Gigabytes overclocking utility, if it crashes am I able to clock back after a reboot ? or how does it work?

Wouldn't go too crazy, considering it's just a 1050Ti.

Not necessarily because it may only be able to hit that because of the current temperature and power and voltage limits.

1800Mhz is a pretty good clock speed for a Pascal card, although it is just a 1050Ti so I wouldn't go crazy with overclocking.

If I do over lock using Gigabytes overclocking software and it crashes will it reset back to stock upon rebooting the system?

If it can keep up with cooling and power requirements, then sure. However with Pascal, the absolute maximum you see with the card tends to be at the edge of what's stable and what's not. So assuming nothing else changes in your setup, you'll very likely run into instability because the GPU can't downclock.

There's also no real point to keeping it at maximum speed all the time.

The utility sets the parameters while the utility is open in Windows. If you close the utility, the card goes back to default behavior.
