i have a nice ssd from an old lonovo think pad. coud i use it for a normal pc and save 100 ?

Yes it should work fine.

I re-use old SSDs and even HDDs all the time. As long as you're making proper backups and the drives are not extremely old or abused, it's generally safe to use. Even older drives may still work perfectly for many years.  I can't stress this enough though: backup, backup backup! Even on new drives, you never want to have your only copy of important data on a single drive, HDD or SSD.

You're better off reinstalling windows, so presets can just be thrown out. Also, the copy of windows would likely be OEM, and not jive with your system.

I presume it's in the 2.5" form factor and it uses sata, so as long as your case has mounting for an SSD you shouldnt need anything

get yourself a usb stick and make it into an install disk. there are lots of tutorials online for it.
