Ram Recommendation?

AMD Ryzen 5 1400 Processor.

I currently have a 1x8 stick of GeIL Evo Potenza DDR4 2400.

I got my 2x8 ram today (Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2667) and unfortunately there was a faulty stick.

Soooo anyways now that I'm here...any recommendations? Price cap of $170

It's best to stick with one brand and model of memory for the sake of stability, so going either with another Geil Evo Potenza and selling your Corsair Vengeance or vice versa will do nicely.

I had considered that but I was going for a touch faster RAM. Since the processor can only handle up to 3000MHZ no need for anything crazy just looking for alittle extra bang for buck

That's what I was considering I have more money from the time I purchased to this point so cost isn't a major factor atm

Agreed. you don't need any RGB or fancy heatspreaders

Okay. do you want RGB? Watercooling? I need your needs. Maybe something that looks cool? Corsair Vengence or G skill trident z.

Ripjaws are in the i7 rig and Flare X are in this one. Can't go wrong with Ripjaws if you just need the ram and not RGB.

 

If it wasn't for the initial ram issue with Ryzen, I'd have gone Trident since they look nice af

I mean ideally I want something that looks good but isn't you know something insane. Ripjaws may be way to go or I'll exchange for the Corsair's again. Still very uncertain lol its why i came here

I found it hilarious one of my friends tried to tell me Corsair ram is the worst on the market lol I don't believe him for a second it's good ram I've heard good things.

Ryzen first-generation is a little picky with RAM, so I'd recommend DDR4 2666 (aka 2667) or 2933 memory that is either using Samsung B-Die chips, or indicates it is Ryzen compatible. My two cents.

 

That said, when my friend put together his R7-1800X system, he too, was using a Corsair LPX DDR4-2666 kit.

Took a few BIOS updates for it to work 100%, but working now nonetheless.
