i will go with your list due to it being slightly cheaper and having bulk storage that will help with my media/photoshop work and game storage thank you so much for helping i can finally start buying my pc parts :) is there any tips you would recommend when building and when it posts :P

Final thing, you might want to consider that MSI Frozr cooler if you have the budget, it's a pretty rad cooler that matches the theme quite well. :)

I recommending getting to know the NZXT S340 Elite because there's all sorts of things in the S340 Elite that you have to know when building inside it, such as the PSU bracket and the bottom drive cage. In addition to that, the NZXT Aer fans are controlled through NZXT Cam as far as I'm aware, so that's how you'll control the RGB on them once you've done the build.

Happy building, be sure to update us on when you've built your brand new PC! :D

so im building my first ever system but i always mess up on what i want (going over budget or not having the right colour scheme)

i have £1200 for the whole pc i do NOT need peripherals or a monitor

i would play games a lot but would use Photoshop sometimes due to school

the colour theme would be BLACK and RED

i would like to have an ssd but if i can get a better gpu/cpu without it then it doesn't have to be included

i want it to be rgb crazy just so i can annoy my foster brother because he hates rgb :P

im 15 so anything to complex would be hard but i am pretty confident due to my foster dad building pcs for a living (but wont make me one ;-; i have to buy my own :()

if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated and tips would be useful as its my first build :) thanks for reading

Go to pcpartpicker.com to get started.  A midrange PC based on a 2600 from AMD or a 8600 from intel would probably fit your budget.  Once you have it picked out you can post it here and people will give you opinions.

This build list is assuming you're playing mid-range games with no overclocking. I added 3 RGB fans since you asked for RGB while not skimping on performance. SSD also included because it's a sin not to have an SSD in 2018, and the whole build complies with the red and black theme. :)

Ah right, yeah absolutely going for an 8600K and a Z370 motherboard would benefit you more, especially as you said you want to overclock.

If you do wanna go for an 8600K and a Z370, you're probably going to run over your budget with the parts list I made. :/ We could try!

Worth it?  Maybe.  Required?  yes.  If you want to OC then you need the Z370 anyway.

Honestly, for games.  No.

The best GPU you can buy and an 8400 or Ryzen 2600 would be all you need.  If you go with Ryzen you can OC on a cheaper bard, but if you want intel then the 8400 is plenty for games.

Ugh, RGB builds. Anyway, here's my suggestion. The CPU cooler is for RGB, and the motherboard is for faster RAM speeds, and because the price is way too good to pass up. Only 3 left in stock when I checked.

Just added a bunch of high performance RGB fans (because I won't add crappy RGB fans just for the sake of RGB :P)

1060 vs 1070 all depends on what games you play, think about what games you'll play and then choose the GPU that you think you'll make the most use out of. :)

A simple change to my thing would be just swapping the 1070 Ti for a 1070, 1060 6GB or RX 580. That would save costs. For a rough estimate of performance between the Pascal cards, take the relative number of CUDA cores. So the 1070 would perform ~79% as well as the 1070 Ti, and the 1060 6GB would perform ~67% as well as the 1070, and ~53% as well as the 1070 Ti. The RX 580 performs about on par with the 1060 6GB, depends on the game. A little better in some, a little worse in others. But you get support for Freesync with that one, which could save cost with the monitor.

If you want a more content creation focused build, you could swap the CPU for the 8700 and the GPU for the 1060 6GB or RX 580, and do that. The cost should stay about the same.

:)
