That sounds like it'd be a fun challenge. :)

A few others I might like to see include:

  • challenge of configuring a system that doesn't support ANY type of plug and play or auto-detect / auto-configuration (so no PCI / PCIe, no IDE / SATA, no USB, etc.) - maybe with 8 Bit Guy, Lazy Game Reviews, Tech Deals, RandomGamingInHD and other YouTubers
  • best possible performance in a tiny passively-cooled system with no airflow (for example no larger than a mini ITX board, no taller externally than 0.5U, and no vent holes; also if the case itself is used as a heatsink, can't be so hot under load that Linus's kids can't safely hold it bare-handed while it's running Prime95 Small FFT and Furmark.)
  • One contestant builds a system where the CPU is > 51% of the cost of the entire system, the other spends > 51% of the budget on the GPU.
  • Most fun gaming experience with a GPU handicap (either can't have been > US$68 MSRP even when inflated by mining or 3rd-party launch-day sellers, or, must be single-slot passively-cooled with only the GPU die itself being heatsinked, or, can't use interface newer than 1st-gen legacy PCI)
  • this would be kind of an odd one, but ... something that's excellent for things like Blender, Resolve, GIMP, Audacity, Office, Chrome/Firefox, etc, but is not capable of gaming *at all* (unless using a VM, and no cheating with unraid or equivalent :P)

I thought I had more in mind some time ago, but they seem to have hidden in some back corner of my brain.
