Before you tell me of a bus that server's are ~ I don't overly care for that type of concept, just like your graphics cards are so much more powerful than your rig currently Sad Panda's really.

i7 I have with 4 cores and 16 gigs - it was my sons old rig, one from few years back, and gave to me as a gift, which seems to be the end of gaming demands. I could go with a better video card sas well, There's just no real demand?

Just waitinging for star citizen to get the mojo going on 3.3 ~ reason why to do a build - BIG for a big game - I'm an Orion miner. I grew up in an era when there was no internet! ~ Waiting is not a problem for me lol

I'm getting an inheritance - money is really not going to be an issue in regards, I really "want" to make a satisfying build - pretty lights and water cooled etc... From Ontario Canada.

I'm still tossing around in my head I want the dual processor build and I blame Linus*** showing me them 8180's and all that ram!:)

I'm still liking the Xeon Gold 6154 at 3.0 GHz sitting on the ASUS WS C621E SAGE - It just Beast  At 18 core and 36 threads dual- 36 cores and 72 threads. I was looking at the 6144/6146 as well for cost as well. but there boards are more server types and there not as popular more of a niche in design, but they do have the GHz.

and the modern games are sputtering at 4-6-8 cores and not even requiring overclocking and anything over 16 gigs of ram is a waste, the 1080TI  video card is better than the rig and any of the games lol YA!

It's like they have gamers in a fenced off area ~ you don't need a rig NO! you need a cash box instead and play rinse and repeat games for the rest of your natural life! (rant)

What I would like to see is the ability to formulize cores into groups like 4, 6, and 8 dependant on overall cores and the game your running EG: 9 groups of 4 cores like in Cinebench each frame is attacked by four cores and the GHz is the speed of the pickaxe is a relative factor in a chunk speed attack, so you could in theory make it go faster as its working it would give more purpose to i8 and i9, dual motherboards etc...

Than the ram would follow that suit in MHz quantity and size. and then you could merely switch back when you want server qualities.

and your servers would still be servers in that regard running a heavier math of serial or parallel.

I plan on doing some streaming of my epic mining adventures as well and it a good transition to hold your own files etc... the ability to house so much information nowadays.

I'm naturally going to be careful in thrifty with my build, I rather quality and get years of enjoyment. I do also rather enjoy the sheer creativity people have with there rigs and the ability to solve problems and addressing them in unique ways.

The others things I have to get are joysticks, foot pedals, monitor, facial recognition type gear,  head tracking and camera and a new computer chair. Probability make a themed gaming area.

The other would be storage devices and video cards, I'll probably do this computer up as well. The case is quite plain I do like the Thermaltake tower 900 - would make for a nice centerpiece in a themed area I think? with some MFDs etc.. to interact with for ship controls little more immersive perhaps.

I have been learning lots from watching Linus and team, playing catch up on tech. Wonderful stuff!

Throw some comments on the build at the build

There is the 1180TI coming perhaps and the ASUS ROC Dominus motherboard and maybe some new Intel processors?

If you want raw power T a consumer lvl id recommend waiting for Nvidia's next lineup of GPUs and waiting for their fully unlocked die (not the 1080/1180 as part of the die is dissabled)

You will also want to wait for the 2990x Threadripper second gen as it offers 32 cores an 64 threads at roughly 1500-1700$ pricepoint based on rumours. Pretty much trouncing intel's server  and Xeon offerings.
