I recently bought a webcam over at my local BestBuy for Skype calls, and quick photo capture for when my phone is dead, But I noticed there is a major issue with either the software, or the camera itself.

The current Logitech Webcam Software I have installed is version is 2.51 - Build 13.51.828, the installer I installed it with is "lws280.exe", so I don't know if that means I have outdated software or not, But I noticed when I unplug it and plug it back in, Logitech Software DETECTS I have a webcam

But then when I go to the Quick Capture button, it says that there is no Logitech Webcam Detected.

I've reinstalled this software a 100 times, checked to make sure ALL of my drivers are up to date, such as USB and Chipset, I've always switched different USB ports, to 3.0 to 2.0 and back, but nothing seems to work, the ONLY time, I can seem to get it to work, is when I reboot my PC, which is highly irritating as I have to do that quite frequently.

I am currently running Window's 10 Pro, Version 1803 Build 17134.137, So I am using the most up to date version of Window's as well.

Can ANYONE Tell me what is going on here?

An easy check is to boot any other video capture software (skype, OBS, etc) and see if it can detect the Camera. That should narrow down whether it's the camera or the software :)

It's saying Skype can't find a webcam either http://prntscr.com/k4uovp

And so does Discord.

Again... I have no idea why I am getting this error.

This might sound dumb, but try different USB ports. I've had that issue before where certain devices would work in USB 2.0 ports but not in USB 3.0 for example

Still nope, I just tried all the 2.0 ports on the back.

Do you have a separate computer available that you could test it with? Perhaps one without software just to see if the camera is detected as a video source at all? This might eliminate the "corrupt software" notion

Perhaps uninstall both the software and firmware for the camera, reboot and then plug it in and see if it works with none of the software? Especially the software. I believe Windows wont let more than one program access the camera at a time, which would explain why no other software could see the camera while the Logitech software was trying to access it..

Yeah, I could try that, the issue is, It'll say the camera is in use by another program? But won't actually explicitly say what program it's being used by, like a bug.

Let me uninstall it and try it without the software.

Alright well, I found out that my webcam stops working after I start Skype, But then when I kill the process with Task Manager, it stays not working

If I use WebcamToy.com before anything loads, it'll work, then when I load Skype, the tab crashes an refuses to work, I AM running on an old version of Skype, Version 7.40, because I despise the layout of new Skype.

I mean I despise Skype in general so :P

That version is only a year old, so it shouldnt be an issue regarding "the camera is too new for the software to support". I'm out of troubleshooting ideas :(

Well, the good thing is, It works when I restart, at least it works. Just wish it did consistently. Thanks for trying though. :)
