budget workstation laptop search

ok long story short my sister is college educated and still has 5 years or more of grad school. She started working in a lab this summer. Her major is biochemestry. Her 2013 toshiba sattelite bought at a pawn shop for 150 bucks 5 years ago is not taking the protein folding she has to do. She needs this to last through her entire college career.

 

She needs....

full keyboard with num pad for data entry.

backlit keyboard

1080p or higher screen

15 inch size to be able to take it to class easily

256 gb or more of ssd storage

windows 10

fast quad or more core cpu

atleast 8gb of ram

actual gpu no integrated

 

she wants...

I'd suggest you stay away from E-Bay, and buy from a trusted retail store.

no limit on weight. she told me she made a steam account. i asked why. she said adventure capitalist. so no she doesn't play games. she has a desktop made from my retired gaming parts to play her occasional normie games. that ebay link is on the bestbuy ebay account which is why i considerd it. my price is usd. battery life is not needed just portability.

of course the battery needs a few hours of light typing and data collection for lectures. gpu just needs to be be good. like a 1050 or even a 1030 maybe r7ish for the amd side.

Like what he said, ^^ The Dell G5 is really good price to performance, With a 8th gen i7 and a 1050/ti or 1060 max Q (If you wanna go all out)

I didnt really see how much money you can spend $$$.

 

But, Dell has a pretty crappy TN panel, with a ugly looking screen.

 

**Incoming Bias**

I just ordered the Lenovo Y530, Its about 700$ In USA, Im from Canada so I had to pay much more, But, It comes with a really "nice" screen for the price, With thin bezels.

But there are not to many Reviews on the Laptop, With it being a couple of weeks old...
