Hi

Linus show us often cool and insane gadgets. Now I need someone who know such. I need an USB to Fiber -> Fiber -> USB "Media Converter" who transport the USB Data truth an Fiber Cable. I was asking in 2 other Forum who are not IT related and the replay was not that usefull.

I found 2 Company who offer such:
1) http://www.icron.com/products/icron-brand/usb-extenders/fiber/

2) Lindy.de -> 42707

Does anyone know other Company? I will use for my Industrial Project who an clean and noise free Power is requiered to no inter fear the Data.

Thanks!

Sry my English Skills are not that good. What kind of Information do you need?

fiber connections won't send any power and you say you need power, good usb cable won't get interferences, fiber optics are good for longer distances. Rethink really what you expect and need

Thats good because the Server is protected from any Lightning, Over Power, Peaks,... from the Antenna.

Sure an "Industrial" Power Supply should provide "clean" Power without noise.

I still use good one but I have noise there. I see it when I boot for example an Raspberry Pi2 (or how the get spelled) up the noise level increase dramatically and inter fear the Signal. The same for other stuff.

Many people who invest some money the buy an Optical Isolation for USB.

In my case ~50m from the Receiver to the Server.

~50m Distance between Receiver and Server

100% Isolation between side even when a Lightning strikes in (so Fiber)

100% Transparent transmission of the Data from the Receiver to an Virtual Pc who Proceed the Data and send the out over Lan (and or to other Virtual Pc).

50m for usb is far too long, thats true, after explaining now it makes more clear, there are no usb fiber standard so you gotta choose extact brand and stick to it. Just get one that Linus bought and experiment. See? if you really want you can speak you mind in decent english

What did you mean with? Sure I have to use a Set on both side one "send" the Data and the other "receive" it like any other USB Stuff out there. The Point why I will use Fiber the are 100% Electrical Isolated. My Server run behind and Online UPS where the Power is "clean". So I be away to connect nothing with an Electrical connection who run not truth the UPS. (for example my IT Products Office in the Basement are all behind the UPS.)

And the Receiver need also an "clean" Environment. Anything who run with Electric Power can create some noise who the receiver will pick up.

I dont click to Amazon! The problem with Corning and Similar Products the use the Power from the PC.
That mean the noise also gets from the Pc to the Receiver. In some other forum a guy will try to cut that power cable and remove it. Maybe he brake the Fiber to....

you can get adapter to power from external source and get data from pc

So I will watch the Video now but before I will show you where the Problem is:
usb-crosssection.png.06c1eba9f86dc587ebf

Here you can see the Adapter use Coper Cable for the Power. So that can transport noise and dont protect an Server when a Lightning Strikes in.

The Solution from the 2 Company are better becouse I can use "my own" 100% Glas Fiber Cable who is 100% isolation from Power. The power get "locally" via an Power Supply at each end.
