I am finaly geting together a new build but I have one question left: With some of the new 800 series on the way Q1 2014 and high end cards coming later next year I was wondering if I should bother geting a 780 or if I should wait it out for the 880 and get by with my old 660 until then.

Thanks in advance!

Your 660 will do fine for now, i'd say go for 800 series when they come out!

I plan on having at least two 1080 monitors, and I will be using the build for gaming and editing.

If you have three monitors, then you'll want to upgrade (obviously) but having two monitors will make no difference to performance.

My biggest concern is that the 660 will hold back the performance on the 4770k. Everything In the rest of the build is on the higher end. I also dont know how well my 660 is performing in comparison to others. I never get more then 30 fps in BF3/4 and only slightly more in AC3/4.

Thanks for all the answers so far!

Should be fine, as long as everything else is up to scratch.  The 660 is a great card!!!

You should wait to see what the 8xx series has to offer before you decide.

Never pulled even half that out of mine. I run up to date drivers and always keep an eye on thermals so I know that those arn't issues. Any ideas on what might be stoping the card from hitting its full potential?

Thanks!

if you bought a 1440p monitor or something i would say go with the 780 or what not but considering you are still at 1080p the 660 will do fine if you lower a couple of settings. However i dont think the 800 series will come out q1 because frankly they don't need to at all especially after the price increases on amd cards
