So I downloaded windows a couple days ago and I didn't have a key. So i bought a key for $120 and something is wrong. When I go into settings to activate I put in my key but it says am not connected to the internet but yet i have an Ethernet cable running from my PC to my modem. It also says that I need to connect to my organizations connection server. But yet this is my home computer. At my home. I tried contacting them and going through their forums but they don't really help me. So how do I fix this so that i will be able to not have wasted $120?

Sounds like you bought a corporate license key.

If you didn't buy from an authorized reseller or Microsoft, I'm guessing you probably got scammed.  Check the seller's site to see the fine print on where you ordered it.

Will I still be able to use the key or am I stuck?

I would return any product back if it's physical.  If you can't get the seller to admit to the issue, you maybe could use a chargeback feature if it's a credit card?  $120 is what I would expect to pay for an OEM key.

But yeah, if it's looking for an organization activation server it's most likely a corporate volume key, and you're screwed.  For example, if you look at the version installed and it says 'Enterprise'.

Maybe check with the links I provided, talk to MS support to see if they're willing to be charitable.  Good luck.

Re-install Windows,  this time enter the key when it prompts you to during installation.

Maybe I was assuming he did that?  Yeah, if you skipped that you're going to have a bad time.

Then again, if your System page says enterprise it's probably a KMS copy.

But will I get the same performance for gaming as in using home or will the performance fall or rise?

Kernel's mostly the same.  Drivers are the same.  Just a few features between Home and Pro in terms of difference.  MS loves feature charts on the subject, sure you could google up one.  Few build differences.  Nothing you'd ever notice.

This is what i see in my settings.

That's not a KMS copy.  It's complaining about being unable to connect to the activation servers.

Likely not your problem then.

Or this:

Maybe have to update beforehand.

oh yeaaaaa. I read it wrong. So I should be able to activate tomorrow?

If the servers are actually down, yeah.  I suggest looking at the article I linked.  You might need to download one of their major updates first.  They include default product keys to allow the update.
