I have this CPU on a gigabyte X58 USB-3 motherboard and it is currently running at 3360Mhz with a 160Mhz base clock overclock. I was wondering weather if I bought faster ram say 2000 or 2400 MHz ram i could get the overclock any higher, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

If you are having trouble due to ram instability why aren't you running in the lowest ram multiplier?

Whether you had 2133 or 2400mhz ram I think your results would be close to the same.  It's mainly your base clock that multiplies your CPU/RAM.  You may be able to ge the base clock a little higher by slowing the ram down if the board/module allows it.  It would let you get your base clock higher, but you may be close to the ceiling as is.

As above post mentioned, they would probably have more exp.

If you've got good cooling, try 200 BCLK and 20 CPU multiplier. 160 is a mild OC.

Or, y'know, go to the X58 thread linked above.

RAM speed makes very little to zero measurable difference on this platform, unless you truly are memory bandwidth limited (likely not the case). Increasing RAM speed won't affect your CPU OC whatsoever.
