I don't think it's as bad as it's made out to be, I'm sure it's not as good as an IPS, but "terrible" is a strong word

I have this monitor and its spot on, Ignore what everybody says, Im more than happy with it and im sure you will be too :)

So, I just switched from a Mac...

have this monitor and the colors out of the box are washed out

it looks terrible 

 

until you google search vg248qe calibration and find the right settings 

it makes a huge diffrence and i love this monitor :)

 

 

I'm not quite sure whats with the sudden increase in the hate on TN panels lately, yes they aren't as good as IPS, but honestly, my mom has an old HP TN 23 inch monitor that came with her comp, and the colors on that compared to the vg248qe is just awful, they could be so much worse.  

 

More and more lately I've been seeing this sort of "elitist" like behavior, where people know something is better, and just because it's better they make everyone that thinks about getting said part feel stupid, without actually explaining why its better, and why they should spend their money elsewhere.
