Your BIOS is likely too old for this CPU. Did you ask the retailer to check this before buying? Did it have a sticker on the motherboard box that claimed support for these new CPUs? If not, you'll need to source a Ryzen 1xxx CPU or an A-series APU to flash the latest BIOS.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

I could be wrong, but I think I remember hearing something that you can get a free CPU from AMD to flash the BIOS, you need to return it afterwards, and it's one of the cheap A series ones, but you can get a loan of one for this purpose.

Correct. The downside is that getting that kit shipped might take a long time so it's sometimes quicker to just order one and sell it on afterwards.

true, but that can lose you some money.

I mean there is some loops you need to jump through to get the CPU but from the sounds of it I would imagine (depending where you live) it will be sent with 3-5 business day delivery

if you bought it from the shop, you should ask the person who sold you it, he might be able to help you. :)
