Help with configuring bandwith

So i have a desktop and a laptop both connected over wifi. (cant use a cable)
When the laptop is downloading something or even simply loading facebook pages or playing videos on youtube i get huge ping spikes on my desktop (which i use for gaming)

When the laptop Torrents something i get stable 300-320 ms (which obviously sucks for gaming) And internet pages are loaded or videos buffering i get insane spikes (even if when loading pages is just for a moment)
1.Cable is not an option
2.Disconnecting the laptop is not an option
3.Router doesn't have QoS (buying a new one is not an option)
So is there a way to fix this by limiting the bandwith from the laptop itself?
(Desktop uses windows 7, Laptop uses win 8.1)
Also even if i try to download something from both the laptop and the desktop it seems that for some reason laptop always gets priority (something like 700-800 kbps) while desktop is always at something like (50-80 kbps).

Your screwed. At the bare min you need QoS options. Even then you need those options implemented correctly by the manufacture. Secondly torrenting causes lots of data transfers, not only download but upload as well, and can easily saturate an internet connection.

What router do you have?  What NICs are you using?  What is the speed package from your ISP?

What you're describing is pretty typical wifi behavior since it's a shared medium, if there's a lot of traffic or interference your devices have to wait for free airtime.

Your screwed. At the bare min you need QoS options. Even then you need those options implemented correctly by the manufacture. Secondly torrenting causes lots of data transfers, not only download but upload as well, and can easily saturate an internet connection.

It sounds to me that your internet is just shit. You must be on 3 Mbps DSL or something, for Facebook to be giving ping spikes.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

My internet is about 8-9 Mbps, facebook gives spikes for likea  very short amound of time anyway i will close this topic... seems like there is no solution other than new router.
