experiencing a weird system crash

anywho, my desktop has experienced about 3 crashes in the past 4 days. every crash the system won't actually turn off. the monitor stops receiving a signal, and fans + leds are still runing.

i've never experienced this before, and was wondering what could the issue possibly be?

I would trade (temporally) with a friend's card and see if either of you have the problem afterwards.

should i underclock/undervolt and see if that fixes itself?

i just ran some memtests and the memory runs fine.

i also switched out to the 7770 i have, and so far the system is running fine.
