I haven't even finished my build yet. I have the money for the remaining parts, and already have a monitor (21.5" 1080p 60Hz 16:9) I bought for use with my Xbox. But, I got a mail from Newegg's promotions today with a $99.99 27" 1080p 60Hz  Widescreen monitor. I am trying to get a hold of a GTX 1060, but only plan on gaming in a single monitor. Is it possible to have both with a single 1060? Is it recommended? Is it cool? Thoughts? My lord, is that legal?

Running 2 displays in windows would be trivial for a 1060. Even 4 displays wouldn't be an issue.

what are you going to be using these monitors for? if gaming... don't even bother with a 60hz just because it is on "sale". Save up for a 144hz - 240hz gsync.

One you get a 2nd you don't go back.

This is true. I've been living on one monitor for the past couple months, and it's been a real pain. I can use my laptop for most of the things I do that require a second monitor, so that alleviates it a little bit.

Around how much are the cheapest or best valued 144Hz, 27" ones?

depends what resolution? and where do you live? well considering you're gonna be using a 1060, I won't recommend anything more then 1080p. Then in which case look at the ZOWIE(benq) monitors, if gsync, look at acer and asus. I'm not sure how much they go for where you live, but acer is usually cheaper then ASUS.

What games do you play?

EDIT: do you intend on playing a lot of different games as they come out?

I would look for an Asus ROG Swift PG279Q personally.

For games, it depends on which titles are releasing and probably some older games too (xbox 360 like) for the nostalgia. This E3 wa great, I'm looking at Fallout 76 and Black Ops 4 + waiting for Anthem, Elder Scrolls, Starfield and Jedi: Fallen Order. I live in Mexico, but I buy my pieces from Amazon US and Newegg US as here they retail usually (at least) like for $50 more than US websites. I'll look further into the 1080p ones, at least until Nvidia's 1100 Lineup is out and the 1000 becomes cheaper. Cheaper IF the crypto geniuses calm down

Nah, I'm not so much into "Gaming" external components other than keyboards and mice. They're way higher in price just for the frame (I do like ROG's MOBOs and Graphics Cards tho)

sounds like you'll be playing a lot of different games. Consider a gsync high refresh rate monitor then, I'm using an asus pg248q and am LOVING IT!!

It's a good display. I personally don't care much for gaming branded components either.

Yup, especially for my competitiveness and rage-inducing one I'll play R6 Siege, and I've read a good refresh rate is pretty crucial in that game

I play a lot of r6 siege myself. GOing from 60hz to 144hz, it is night and day. I have owned my pg248q for a very long time now, and no way in hell would I even consider playing competitively or any fps game for that matter on a 60hz panel ever again.

EDIT: I'm assuming you don't care too much about graphics right?

I experienced that when I jumped from a 30Hz TV to my 60Hz monitor. As most Xbox players still play on 30Hz I did feel an upper hand on gunfights or flicks

EDIT: I want graphics to look better and smoother than Xbox, I'll upgrade my card later. A friend of mine let me play Fallout 4 on his 980 a while back and I was blown away by the textures and the smoothness (compared to Xbox, where it usually crashes if you load a few mods)

You can't compare a pc to a xbox. You just can't... It is like comparing usain bolt in a 100m sprint with a toddler.
