If I bought a 4K monitor, would I be able to use it with a 1080P card? On my current monitor I can change resolutions on it, but i don't know how that works. If I bought a 4k would I be able to use it in 4k with my card to watch you tube or movies, then switch to 1080p for gaming?

Yes.

The way you can switch is in either Windows or the game. There is some interpolation that makes it look slightly more blurry than a 1080p panel at the same size.
