rdp CredSSP on RDP Login to Win Server 2016 Issue

Hey there guys and gals, I've just installed a fresh copy of Windows Server 2016 Standard Edition after removing VMWare's ESXI 6.5 on my Dell Poweredge R710. Now I have RDP setup server side but get an error from the RDP program saying

"An authenication error has occurred"

"The fuction requested is not supported"

"This could be due to CredSSP encryption oracle remediation"

 

How do I fix this, I'm no longer using ESXI on the server and can't figure out why this keeps poping up on a physical machine.

 

Please help, been trying to fix it for a week

Just need to install the applicable update on the Server 2016 machine.

I think that happened to me recently.. I just used another machine that didnt have the new update to get connected.

Not sure. Just know it was a patch released in March. But yes, it needs to be done on the server.

You can edit the registry of the computer w/ the following:

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\CredSSP\Parameters
Add a DWORD value of 2: “AllowEncryptionOracle”

But you should really just do a round of updates on the server as part of a regular maintenance schedule.
