Hey Guys,

A friend of mine asked me if we wanted to build a PC together this Summer.
We went over some planning and finally got an Idea of what we want to do.

His use: High End Gaming, Occasional streaming and some light VR.

Budget: Around 2000€. With our Plan right now we land on 1980€ (in Germany).

The build looks as following:

CPU:Intel Core i7-6700K
Motherboard: Asus Rog Maximus VIII Hero Gaming Mainboard
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock 4
GPU: Asus Rog Strix GeForce GTX1080Ti-11GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz
Storage: WD Blue 1TB 3,5" HDD  || WD Blue  250GB 2,5" SSD
PSU: Corsair RM650x (650W, 80 Plus Gold)
Case: be quiet! Pure Base 600
Case Fans: 2 Corsair AF 120 Performance Edition Fans to Aid both of the preinstalled be quiet! Fans.

Here is the PC Part Picker list: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/79jwYT

One Thing I am scared of is that the Ram doesn´t have enough Clearence under the Dark Rock.

Do you Guys have any advice and/or Things I overlooked ?

Thank you very much in Advance ! <3

Should get a case that actually has airflow

probably want an 8 core for streaming, otherwise Skylake/Kaby Lake is dead.

X470 also gets you StoreMI

What monitor resolution/refresh rate? A 1070ti makes a lot more sense to buy right now IMO, since next gen GPUs are on the way.

If you are wanting an Intel cpu then change to the i7 8700K and also the Motherboard to a Z370 chipset. The Asus Prime Z370-A for example.

That Ram will be fine under the cooler as it is classed as low profile.

I wouldn't recommend a 6700K at this point. The 8700K is a big step up for like not much more. Or alternatively just go Ryzen 7 2700x as a better PC overall for editing, streaming and so on. Remember, any single core performance benefit the 8700K has over Ryzen, will disappear at 1440p/4K which is clearly his target with a 1080Ti.

But yeah, up the CPU to an 8700K or 2700X. The 6700K is just too outdated compared to what's available now. On a side note, I kind of feel bad for people who bought the 7700K only to see the 6-core 8700K come out shortly after...

Why a 6700k? Get an 8700k instead.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I heartily agree with the other posters that recommended changing your choice of CPU, but considering the one in your list is 2 generations old, I'm wondering if there is limited parts availability where you live?  If streaming is important I would probably choose the Ryzen 2700X.
