Hi, I have an issue I need some input on. I built a pc in august 2017, It had worked great until 6 weeks ago when the PSU failed, No big deal these things happen, Then i replaced the PSU, 2 weeks later the new one failed. OK, maybe this could just be bad luck. I went about testing all the components and the power from the wall and from the UPS. All checked out to be normal. I replaced the UPS as well just to be extra cautious. The 3rd PSU failed in....you guessed it, 2 weeks. I don't believe this would be more bad luck. There were no shorts coming from anywhere that I could see (many hours with a meter testing) Does anyone have any suggestions on what this could be?

Setup: nothing is overclocked.

Ryzen 1700

Asus B350-f strix gaming motherboard

16gb ddr4 2133 (4x4gb)

MSI RX 580 Gaming-X

NZXT x72 AIO

500gb M.2 nvme ssd

PSU#1  Corsair vs600 (ok could possibly be underpowered)

PSU#2 Masterwatt 650 (again possible its underpowered)

PSU#3 Corsair RM1000

All components new at purchase. Please, any input and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.

I'm going to guess 2 things:

1. You keep using cables from an old PSU with new PSUs. Don't do that. I find this a bit unlikely since the Corsair VS has only fixed cables.

2. The power from your wall is dirty. You need a surge protector either installed in your house or get something that you plug your PC and UPS into. Something like this, which is single-use but can save you from a power surge if you get one

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Do you use any external Harddrives with Power Supply?
Or (cheap) USB HUBs?
Those can throw back Voltage via the USB Cable to the PC.

A bad monitor is also an option.

might want to mute the Audio because its GERMAN but that is the best example that I know of that shows this issue:

What UPS are you using?

Most UPSs are just pass through until the power goes out.  Most of them don't do anything about dirty power.

My guess is your mains is shit.

Most decent PSUs should be able to deal with it though, with how much filtering they have...
