Wondering if I could get some opinions on some PSUs, haven't built a PC in a long long time.

Processor: Ryzen 2600x/2700x (Upgrading next year to whatever AMD or Intel comes out with)

GPU: GTX 1060 6GB (from previous build / Upgrading GPU as well next year and might do an SLI)

Budget: In the ball park of $80

I'm thinking a 650W PSU is good for now and as I will be upgrading later on, I wouldn't need to replace the PSU. I will be overclocking. Looking in the range of semi modular to modular as well as being quiet and effiencient.

Two PSUs I looked at: https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-TX650M-Modular-Power-Supply/dp/B01N18J52E & https://www.amazon.com/Seasonic-SSR-650FX-ATX12V-Modular-Compact/dp/B073H33X7R

I saw the Tiered list of PSU quality, the TXM I posted doesn't mention if it's 2017.

Thanks.

The TX650M should do you just fine.

Always been happy with Corsair power supplies myself, using a CX550M now and have 2 RM750i's & 1 CX450M running in other systems.

Only the CX450M arrived with a broken fan that wouldn't always turn on, but they replaced it with a new unit after sending it back :)

I also heard CoolerMaster makes decent PSU's, never used them myself.

Never used Seasonic either.

The TXM is 2017 if the label on the side isn't yellow.

Don't do SLI, for one. Never worth the time or hassle.

Secon,d a TX550M would be perfectly fine for your system, so go for that if you like.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I probably will go with the TX550M, hows the noise level at 50% and 100% load? And the yellow label seems to be the only one that is modular? I don't mind semi modular, but if I can get fully modular, why not :) The noise level takes precedence in the end.

Thanks for your input everyone.

The yellow-label one is super antiquated and you shouldn't be buying it. The only one worth buying has TX550M written on the side in grey.

The noise isn't great as the fan is undersized for the unit. If you want a quieter unit, look for a Seasonic Focus Plus or Bitfenix Formula Gold. If you're OK with spending more then a Corsair RM550x would work well too and be quiet.

If he's upgrading GPU soon-ish I'd probably stick with a Formula/Straight Power 11/RMx, the FOCUS has less than amazing PCIe cabling.

There was never a fully modular TX-M.  TX-M has ALWAYS been semi-modular.

The yellow label is old and came in non-modular and semi-modular.  The new gray label is only semi-modular.
