Hi folks, looking for suggestions on a graphics card.

Kinda tough building a PC in the midst of all the price gouging, I can't seem to find a proper GPU that would accompany my 2600X. I do intend to upgrade to Zen 2, so I want a GPU that will supersede that.

I found all 400/500 series GPUs are sold out due to miners, haven't been able to find any for sale or going the nvidia route, I only find the 1050Ti not overpriced and the 1060 6GB is way overpriced. I'm not interested in buying used GPUs. Which would mostly come from miners who worn out the thing with their useless endevour.

Sometimes a GTX 970 4Gb can sometimes be found on the cheap. It would be 4% less powerful than a GTX 1060 3Gb but 63% more so than a 1050 Ti. Also it is VR ready which is a nice bonus.

Have a nice day:)

While you stated to want a brand new video card I honestly believe the best purchase around this price point is a second hand GTX 980 Ti which is basically a stock GTX 1070 Ti that's going for about the most expensive 1060 6gb out there, it's a bad card for mining since it consumes too much energy so you're likely to get a gaming one buying used always... also this extra power consumption is meaningless for gaming loads personally speaking.

Used GPU's are better then you give them credit for. Most should be fine, most miners undervolted and kept them in temps, and thats even IF you buy it from a miner. Ive bought 980ti's and others and they are all still working, a quick cleaning and repasting helps

Used GPUs are great. The problem is from what I'm seeing is miners don't tell you if their cards were used for mining, but simply list it as used in "gaming." And for the fact the mining scene is dying now which is going to bring out tons of used cards on Ebay soon.

A lot of miners were noobies who came in to make a quick buck and didn't know how to how to keep them in check and I've seen many threads about them asking how to overclock.

Just use an APU for now and save the rest of your money for a better GPU->CPU in the future?

Would be about $400 for an APU rig.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

$650 CAD!!!!!! one costs like $300 CAD here in the UK. I feel for you Canadian gamers out there. Also APU rigs can work very well, look at the 2500G from amd.

Have a nice day:)
