Hello,

I'm currently using a iMac 5k to game, and to say short it's an interesting experience. I'm more or less just uncomfortable gaming with it as Apple had recently replaced the computer due to some power failure, then logic board failure. I dual boot it on windows, use Mac Fans Control and make the thing go ham. It screams really loud, but it doesn't bother me as I have headphones in; this is just concerning. I'm looking for a really strong small factor form PC that I can take traveling, like flying to college, etc. I've seen the corsair one, looks pretty good; however, I want to keep my options open, do you guys have any pre-built pc's like it? Also, if I were to build my own, what would be the ideal build?

I would prefer liquid cooling, and a somewhat powerful GPU.

Budget: $1k - 2.5k.

MFP (My First PC) - Mobo: MSI - X470 GAMING PRO CARBON | CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 X | RAM: Team T-Force Vulcan 16 GB 3000 | STORAGE: Crucial MX500 M.2 500 GB | GPU: GTX 1080 | CASE: Fractal Design Meshify C | FANS: 3 extra Noctura NF-F12 PWM 120mm | PSU: EVGA 750 W Semi-Modular
MFL (My First Laptop) - 15 inch Mac Book Pro w/ Touch Bar
OD (Old Desktop) - 5k iMac 27 inch

Just buy a laptop with an i7 + GTX 1050/ti or an R5 2500U machine?

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I once was chancing that console killer 5L-12L PC and to be honest there are way too many compromises in terms of heat, noise, sound, price and ability to upgrade.  I know you can build a family Mini ITX but I used a Corsair Bulldog 2.0 barebones kit as the basis of my build and managed to get am i7 8700K, 16GB DDR4 Ram, 1TB 2.5" 7200RPM, 240GB M.2, EVGA GTX 1080 TI SC2 Hybrid in there.  The system is fully water cooled, albeit very entry level especially on the CPU which probably can't take any overclocking.  Anyways the case is 20L but would be small enough to squeeze into a TV console.  You could do a Ryzen 2700X w/ an EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid for $2000

SFF Time N-ATX V2 - Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI - AMD Ryzen 9 5800X3D - Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4090 - LG C2 OLED 42"

Do you know what games you wanna play and at what settings, resolution, hz and refresh rate? Also would you account the monitor into the budget or nah?

Just get an external GPU for it? That's probably good enough

If not I don't know how small you need it, but hte Core 500 supports 240mm AIOs, and Ryzen is relatively lower power and has a soldered IHS, which might be nice

Oh, don't worry I've already considered this. However, as stated above i'm looking for something I can transport to college. Also, egpu's won't work. Display passthrough isn't viable at all.
