Freesync on new 2018 Samsung TVs worth it for gaming?

Gdourado

Hello,

Just saw that the new 2018 Samsung TVs have freesync.

This caught my eye on the 55NU8005.

Now with GPU prices down to reasonable levels, would a Vega 64 powered itx build with such a TV offer a good gaming experience?

Is it worth this setup just for freesync on the big screen alone?

Cheers

The freesync is there because the xbox one supports it, but with vega 64 you should have a pretty good experience, if it isn't a 4k tv. 4k scaling on games and windows is still pretty broken, but you can just set the res to 1080p and that should be fine.

well 4k tv you can put at 1080p to game with your pc high demanding games, because 4k->full hd is 4:1 relation so no blurry image.

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

I don't think the Samsung TVs do nearest neighbor.

There is always some kind of upscaling being done to the 1080p signal to display on the 4k screen.
