Help for rendering pc.

Hey!

 

Just want to say sorry in advance cuz I'm not very knowledgeable.

The programs I use are heavier rendering programs such as Adobe After Effects/ Premiere but also some cad programs such as revit BIM etc.

Im a student so my budget is kinda strict but max 1500$.

 

My PC atm:

Motherboard: Z97X-Gaming 3, 1150 socket
CPU: i5-4690K 3,5GHz
CPU-fan: Coolermaster hyper 212
RAM: 16Gb, DDR3
Graphic card: GeForce GTX 970
Hard drives: One Regular 1TB drive and a SSD with 250GB.
 

 I often find my PC on 100% CPU power when im rendering and sometimes 100% Ram usage aswell.

So apps are filling up the entire 16GB of RAM?

Just reuse your GPU, still fine for 1080p gaming.


Though you might want a workstation card if you do a lot of CAD and your software can make use of it.

Hardware prices there are inflated quite a lot because of tax right? So the seemingly generous budget isnt that large after all.

 

The good thing is that none of these apps listed are GPU heavy, so the gtx 970 can stay (unless you plan on gaming as well).

 

For CPU, these apps only use more than 4-6 cores in rendering, otherwise high single core performance matters the most. I prefer the 8700k here

 

For RAM, get 32GB just in case. I dont think you need 64GB, because you will be limited by the CPU in projects that do use so much RAM.

Not necessarily the best choice. But it might be a viable option. It comes down to how much you can comfortably spend vs how much extra performance is needed.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
