Pixel 2 XL USB-C Issue

Just recently my phone has been acting up. I first noticed it while using Android Auto in my car - sometimes it would randomly disconnect and I would have to plug my phone back in to restart Android Auto.

Just for reference, I am running the new Android P beta preview. I bought my phone about 6 months ago and have dropped it once from about 2 feet up with a fairly good case on it.

Recently I have been completely unable to exchange data through my USB-C port on my phone. Android Auto doesn't work, and Windows doesn't recognize my phone, and it gives me an error that says "The last USB device you plugged in malfunctioned."  I've tried three different cables from two different brands, and none of them seem to work. When plugged into my PC, the error message flashes on and off, like the phone is briefly connecting for a split second and then disconnecting.

The odd thing is that charging works just fine with no issues in speed or connection, regardless of what cable or power source I use (car, computer, etc.)

I've tried clearing the port of any dust using very high pressure compressed air, so it doesn't seem to be the culprit.

Is the port on my phone broken?

Did it start happening after Android P? It is Beta software so who knows, it could be the issue.

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
