Audio is only coming through the left with HD8 DJ.

So, I just got some HD8 DJ's, and noticed something very odd on my desktop -The right channel was dead off the rear panel jack, but worked fine off the front panel jack. To cut a bunch of troubleshooting short, I found that using both the 1/4" adapter and my HD558's 1/4"-3.5mm adapter fixes it, this after noticing that the HD8's cable has 3 poles while the HD558's cable has 4.

 

Now, I hadn't looked much into 3.5mm variants before because I never ran into an issue, but now it's an issue. Can anyone explain to me exactly what's happening, and does anyone know how to fix it? Or, at least, how to fix it without using a train of adapters?

 

(I'm using on-board audio with my Crosshair 6 Hero.)
