So i bought a artis pro without the DAC not realizing i bought it without the DAC as i bought it in China from a online store and well i bought it to listen to music on my pc and then realized i got the wrong one and couldn't return it, also i don't know the difference between DAC's and AMPs for headsets but id like a suggestion for one which will be decent for music and bass, I'm not too concerned on price i just want some suggestions on ones worth looking into

Thanks guys.

So high level explanation here: DAC = digital to analog converter. This takes the digital signal from your computer (typically through a USB connection) and converts it to an analog signal (your typical 3.5mm/aux/RCA connectors). Now that the signal has been converted from digital to analog, it needs to be amplified so that your headphones move enough so you can hear it. So the DAC is then connected to an amp which does just that - it takes an analog signal and amplifies it. You then plug in your speakers/headphones to the amp and can hear the sound.

As for suggestions - amps/DACs typically aren't where you get a lot of the sound signature - that comes from headphones. So if you want more bass I would suggest looking to buy a different headphone. If this is the first time you are buying an amp or a dac, I would suggest the Schiit Fulla 2. It is $99, sounds great, loods good, has good connectivity options, and can power most headphones.

Why do you feel that you need a DAC/amp? Does the sound not get loud enough? What is the source that you are plugging into?

The headset doesnt give off enough bass, i had a cheaper headset a much cheaper redragon headset that used to vibrate off my head with bass and they were like 20 USD headset and these i paid 250 usd i expected music to be alot better, im not saying the quality is bad, as i can hear things much clearer and they do alot better at blocking out sound but the bass just doesnt feel quite there and in the reviews i watched people said the set that came with the DAC/AMP had good bass for music and i thought i ordered that set but i was wrong and i did contact steel series to find out if the DAC/AMP can be purchased separately but they said not at this time so i guess i gotta get a separate one also the source is a USB hub from my pc and the soud is more than loud enough but for me to really enjoy the bass on the headset i have to turn the volume up to a level which hurts haha i hope this helps

what even is the headset's listing

if i can see the specs it would be easy to tell whether you should buy new headphones or an amp dac.

personally if you really care about bass gaming headset aren't going to provide the best experience.

Heres a link to the headset on steel series site

https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-pro

I hope this helps with specs and things as im not too good with specs in terms of sound.

Also i was looking into the AMP/DAC thing and im starting to wonder do i even need to spend 100 usd on a AMP/DAC combo wouldnt i get better bass if i just went straight for a 100 usd AMP

Okay - if you feel like you don't like the sound of your headphones, a DAC or an Amp wont make enough of a difference for you to start loving them. That just isn't how it works. I would suggest either trying to EQ the sound to something you like, or you just need to return/sell the headphones you have so that you can buy a set that has the amount of bass you enjoy. Buying a DAC or an amp won't make much of a difference as far as purely boosting bass goes.

Well I mean there are a few AMP's that actually boost the bass by quite a bit by boosting low end signals to a higher level - basically like a Hardware EQ but only for bass. An example of an amp that does this ones like the Topping NX1s which has a bass boost switch, used it on my headphones before and it's strengthen the impact of the bass but at the cost of somewhat muddying the highs and overtaking it. It does somewhat depend on the headphones and how they respond to the boost.
