The  BIWIN mSATA one is SATA 2 and the SUNBOW one is SATA 3 does that make a different?

Hi adamvv!

SATA 2 and SATA 3 definitely make a difference, the question here is not if you can replace the BIWIN for the SUNBOW but if the computer where the drive will be installed supports SATA 3, if this the case any device in mSATA form factor with an interface SATA 3 should be compatible.

Now, many motherboards are backwards compatible, meaning that they can recognize SATA 3 and SATA 2 devices but if the computer can only see SATA 2 then it won't allow to install a SATA 3 SSD, in regards of the Micro SATA or USB Adapter you need to also make sure it recognizes SATA 3.

Hi Seagate_surfer,

Thanks for getting back to me, the machine is a till so that'll make it different to say if it would be compatible.

It should have a serial number or model number from the manufacturer that we could use to try to determine if it supports SATA 3 or not, chances are that it does support it given the time in which we are but it is always goo to double check. And just don't forget that the adapter you are purchasing to convert from mSATA to USB shouldn't give you any problem, the only thing you need to make sure is that the adapter receives SATA 3, I didn't see it in the description of the link you posted but again, in these times almost all devices will recognize SATA 3 due to fact that it has become the standard used for almost every manufacturer worldwide. Contacting Amazon would be a good idea.
