For a windows install usb only, it doesn't matter, get whatever is cheap and from a decent brand.

You mean the USB wouldn't work at all or it wouldn't work as a boot drive?

What did you do to make it a boot drive if so?

It wouldnt work has a boot drive. I did the CMD method, and using windows 7 boot partition ( or whatever its called) and it wouldnt work as a boot drive.

Hmmmm do it like this to make sure you did it right:

If you don't have a CD with the files:

Get an ISO from http://www.w7forums....ads-t12325.html

Use http://www.microsoft..._usbdvd_dwnTool to mount it to your USB pen (4gb+)

OR just use the CD files and do this instead:

1.  Open command prompt (run as admin)

2.  type "diskpart" and hit enter

3.  type "list disk" and hit enter, you will be able to see by the size column which one is your usb stick

4.  Say its disk 2, type "select disk 2" and hit enter

5.  Wipe it by typing "clean" and hit enter

6.  When thats done type "create partition primary" hit enter

7.  type "select partition 1" and hit enter

8.  type "active" and hit enter

9.  type "format fs=fat32" and hit enter and let it run.

10.  type "assign" and hit enter

11.  Open the CD up and copy all files onto to the usb stick and you can then use it as a installation drive.

No, you only do that if you have the CD.

If you are using an ISO use the software http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

You using an ISO from the link provided?

Does the USB work as a normal usb stick (can put stuff on it)

You could just open the ISO with http://www.daemon-tools.cc/products/dtLite

And copy and paste the files from within the ISO onto the USB stick (After you have done the CMD process)

Its basically just trial and error to find out if the USB stick is a dud, if it is, take it back for a refund/replacement.
