Optane Standoff & Screw

 I just bought a 16GB stick of Intel Optane and was going to install it and realized there is no standoff & screw for it.

The motherboard is an ASUS Z270-P.  The standoffs currently in the m.2 slots are too short to put a screw into and keep it level... if I had a screw.

My question is, can I remove the current standoff in there and would a regular 6-32 standoff be able to be screwed in its place?  Anyone encountered something like this?  The people at Micro Center told me they don't sell the screws and standoffs.

They use regular M2 threaded stand offs and screws, you can get replacements on Amazon but try contacting Asus if they didn't include one on your board.

Right, but what I'm wondering about is if the standoff circled in red is 1.) removable 2.) has the same size thread as a 6-32 standoff.  If so couldn't I just remove it and use a 6-32 in its place?

That is not a stand off that's just the threaded insert they PEM into the PCB and a stand off goes ontop of it, that should also be M2 threaded so 6-32 won't fit.

The standoff and screw to mount an m.2 should be included in your motherboard box.

I don't doubt that, but I'm not sure where that box is and it's not at my apartment.

I've tasked my brother with finding it at his house.

Brother was able to find the correct hardware.
