Yeah, should be enough for most modern titles. However, 16GB is slowly becoming the norm especially if you want to multi-task whilst playing the games, e.g. have the browser open etc.

If you are stuck with a budget, then get 2 4gb ram because they give you better performance in FPS than a single ram with 8gb. But I would recommend 16gb depending on what you do

Of course, dual-channel is better than a single 8gb stick, good point :)

But don't get too hung up on having dual channel operation like most new builders. More RAM is always better than slightly faster RAM. So if you only have two slots, go for the 8GB stick for future expansion. Even when you mix and match RAM, you're more likely to run into a CPU, GPU, or storage bottleneck than RAM speed bottleneck.

16 gigs of ram is the standard for gaming but however if you have a powerful gpu for the resolution you need for e.g. gtx 1060 for 1080p then 8gb ram should be enough. And anyways you can upgrade it whenever you want. But anything below 8gb is pretty useless I mean you can run moderganes but it may cause game to crash not loss up or ever fps drops up to 10fps wich I guess you don't want

8 GB should be adequate for regular not too demanding games. However, it won't be ideal though.

If you're on a tight budget, go for a single stick of 8 GB and upgrade further down the line with a second stick of 8 GB.

Dont try to play with 4GB, 8GB is the "standard", I would try to aim for 16GB, anything above that really isnt needed if your just playing games.

I recently upgaded from a 4gb x2 = 8gb (ddr3 1600) to a 8gbx2 =16gb ddr 3 2133. In some games, its pretty noticeable. For instance, if you run emulators like CEMU, it is VERY VERY noticeable. In GTA V, it is noticeable. So in most CPU demanding titles, rams do matter. But in most games, it just prevents frame drops. I think most of the time people have the wrong ideas about ram speed and size saying that anything over 8gb does not matter and ram speed is a myth. (linus...you gotta do another video on this. Your employees messed up) This is clearly wrong! This is what I experienced so far

1) if you upgrade from 8gb to 16gb then you will see less sudden frame drops <---this is the biggest reason to get more rams, to reduce the frequency of that 1% low fps from happening

2) if you upgrade from 8gb to 16gb then you will see a little average fps increase ( 0~9 at most), rams will not give you more frames, but rams will give you more stable fps.

3) rams speeds do matter! a 1333 ram will not give you the same performance as 3000. Many benchmarks are misleading since they do not focus on the framedrops but only report a slight increase in the average fps.

I am pretty open minded so I am open to the possibility that I am wrong. So if you feel that I am wrong, please prove me wrong with numbers.

btw a poor argument would be you running a non-demanding game and claiming that rams do not matter. (e.g. overwatch) Please benchmark with the latest CPU demanding games like GTA V and COD.

Pubg runs like crap on 8 gigs. Unless you don't know any better or the system is really weak.  But ddr4 may be a different story.
